We head into the Rättvik kulturhus which translate into culture house. The building houses the local library and a little local museum telling the interesting geological history of the area. The area was struck by a meteor years ago. The meteor left a big scare in the landscape – which has created a series of lakes at the edge of the original crater. One of these lakes is the one right outside Rättvik where we just came back from.

In addition to the little story about the meteor there is a little display of the prehistoric wildlife including a painting of a mammoth and a tooth of a wholly mammoth as well.

After looking at the prehistory of the area there is a little taxonomic display with the modern wildlife of the display is the usual you can expect in this kind of local museums. But all in all the free museum was worth the visit just for the information about the old meteor and the way the lakes were created.
