We make it further south on the string of islands of Lofoten and we finally got some sunshine up here in the Arctic summer. This really helps the islands to present itself from its best side – the drive along the small island of Flakstadøya is a very scenic island.

We don’t really find any major scenic spots on this drive through this island – but the scenery is stunning and it is a nice drive to reach the further islands of Lofoten so we enjoy the view of the mountains along the way.

I appreciate that you are showing the true face of the Lofoten Islands and not just the postcard with the pretty brightly coloured house. Nevertheless the mountain scenery plunging into the sea is appealing.

There is more to the area than just the tiny villages. They are just the most famous areas.
