One of the best places to observe the foilage is along the amazing Kancamagus Highway on the south side of the White Mountains in New Hampshire.

Along the I-93 you can actually do quite a bit of seightseeing at the outskirts of the White Mountains. It is well worth taking your time on the short drive between Littleton and Lincoln New Hampshire.
