Höga Kustenbron – longest bridge along the road

Posted by

When you drive the coast road to or from the north of Sweden you will pass an impressive bridge called Höga Kustenbron. It is mentioned as the Swedish answer to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco – I am not sure it can fully compare but it is a very nice piece of engineering across a river on the road.

The bridge is 1867 meters long making it the longest along this road and one of the longest in all of Sweden. If you are driving along the coastal road you will see the bridge at a distance. If you like to have a bit closer look at the bridge you can stop at a rest area right next to the bridge.

You find the rest area on the northern end of the bridge on the eastern side of the road. You can reach the rest stop from both sides of the road so you can get to stop no matter if you are arriving from the north or the south of the bridge.

We did stop and to take a few photos of the bridge – you can stay and have a bit to eat as well at the large rest stop.
