Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church

The church is located at Kurfürstendamm and can be easily accessed from the Kurfürstendam or Zoologiske Garten U-bahn stops. The church was built as a protestant church in 1890 and it would have been impressive in its original form – but the reason this church is famous is the fact it was hit by bombs during World War II.

The church was pretty badly damaged, but unlike the rest of Berlin it was decided not to renovate the church. Instead it has been kept as a memorial for the war. The original church is no longer used on a daily basis instead there is an exhibition with different plagues telling a bit of the history of the church and war. Next to the original church is a new church where the services are performed today on a regular basis.

If you come during December time there is a pretty big and fairly interesting Christmas market to keep you entertained and possibly forget there is this old monument to the war at this location.
